Senior Pastor Walter Lamar Staples
Pastor Walter Lamar Staples is a living testimony of Philippians 1:6 which states,
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” It is with this complete confidence in Christ that Pastor Staples continually strives to become all “The Lord” has predestined and called him to be.
A native of Beckley, West Virginia; Pastor Staples relocated to the Washington, DC metropolitan area in 1992 with his father, Bishop Glen A. Staples, and his mother, the late Martha Ann Day Staples. After graduating from high school, he attended Prince George’s Community College and Liberty University respectively. Pastor Staples received his Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Biblical Studies and Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia. Additionally, he is an LTI Certified Trainer through the Leadership Training Institute in Chesapeake, VA.
Pastor Staples received his ministerial license on December 8, 2004. Shortly thereafter, God had a different plan, and he was ordained an Elder in The Lord’s church on November 4, 2005. Pastor Staples has dedicated himself full‐time to assist in carrying out the vision and ministry of his Pastor and father – The Honorable, Bishop Glen A. Staples, Presiding Prelate of the Temple of Praise International Fellowship of Churches (TOPIFC) with headquarters in Washington, DC. On October 13, 2019, Pastor Staples was installed as the Senior Pastor of The Temple of Praise.
Since 2006, Pastor Staples has served as the Assistant Pastor, Church Administrator and Chief Financial Officer at the Temple of Praise. He is an anointed ministerial leader, spiritual advisor, mentor, teacher, and counselor to many. Pastor Staples’ ability to connect with people of all ages and walks of life is only because of the God‐given anointing on his life. He has traveled the world preaching to thousands and is known as a compassionate, humble, and hardworking man whose ministry gift and work for the Lord is not yet complete.
Pastor Staples is married to the beautiful Aisha Staples and is the proud father of two wonderful children – Walter and Mossi. Moreover, Pastor Staples is a business savvy mastermind and entrepreneur; co-owns and operates iPurpose Management & Consulting Firm in Washington, DC. Pastor Staples is also Chief Executive Officer of WLFS Ministries and Executive Director of Doors2Discovery, a nonprofit organization that coordinates initiatives for undeserved communities. Currently, Pastor Staples serves as the Director of Building Operations at New Day Transitional Home for Homeless Women and Children – a facility named on the behalf of his late mother, Mrs. Martha Ann “Day” Staples.
With all that he endures, Pastor Staples is most grateful to The Lord for his life -He is an astonishing man of compassion, leadership, and integrity a Holy Ghost‐filled and a saved man of God on a mission for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
